 The Galveston & Texas History Center Has A New Archivist!

Katelyn Landry-Carranza (she/her) is an early career archivist passionate about expanding equitable access to archives and resurfacing marginalized narratives. She graduated from New York University with her MA in Archives and Public History in May 2025 and completed her BA in history and anthropology at Rice University in 2022. Her interest in early Galveston and Texas history began in 2021 when she utilized the Rosenberg Library's special collections to conduct historical research for SlaveVoyages and the Galveston Historical Foundation. Since then, she has worked in a number of reference, research, and archival processing positions at NYU, the Morgan Library & Museum, Barnard College, and the Lake Jackson Historical Association. She currently serves as a 2025-26 Steering Committee Member-at-Large for the Students and New Professionals section of the Society of American Archivists. On her spare time, she loves exploring local breweries and coffee shops, scrapbooking, birding, and watching movies!
