NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Galveston and Texas History Center is not accepting applications for volunteers or interns at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If you have a passion for local history and excellent organizational skills, the Galveston and Texas History Center is the place for you! Volunteers enjoy a flexible schedule, friendly work environment, and never-ending learning opportunities among the History Center’s treasures.
Volunteers and interns help with:
- Processing and organizing archival collections (inventorying and describing items, labeling, and data entry)
- Digitizing photographs and documents
- Creating topical online exhibits
- Planning, hosting, or assisting with local history programs and events
- Teaching classes on topics of your expertise (e.g. genealogy, house history research, your own historical research)
- Community outreach
Contact Lauren Martino, Special Collections Manager, if you are interested in joining the Special Collections team.
