Genealogy Lock-In

The 25th Annual Genealogy Lock-in will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026. This event can be attended in person in the Fox Room on the 4th floor of the Rosenberg Library or virtually. Remember: you must register for this event regardless of how you plan to attend. You will not receive the link to the sessions if you don't register. The link is active for only 24 hours.

Beginning at 9:30, Sharon Gillins will present "Harvesting Ancestors--Lessons from the Garden". After, we stream the sessions from 11:00-5:30. If you would prefer to virtually attend, you will receive a link in a reminder email on the 15th.

 Genealogy Lock-In

Sharon Batiste Gillins is a native of Galveston, Texas with paternal ancestral roots in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana and maternal roots in Fort Bend County, Texas. She is a passionate family history researcher who has been actively involved in genealogical research and teaching for more than 35 years. As a genealogy educator, she has been a frequent presenter at regional conferences and national genealogical institutes including the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburg, Texas State Genealogical Society, RootsTech and numerous regional genealogy societies and research groups. Her research and teaching emphasize strategies and methodologies for researching southern ancestry including the lives of enslaved persons, free-people-of-color, farmers and planters.
