Planning Your Visit

The Galveston and Texas History Center’s archives include manuscripts, photographs, books, maps, architectural drawings, and more focusing on Galveston from its 1839 incorporation to the present and early Texas from the Spanish colonial period through the Civil War. Located on the 4th floor of the Rosenberg Library, the Galveston and Texas History Center is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

About the Museum

The Museum Department maintains and exhibits artifacts that document the history of Galveston and the Republic of Texas, as well as the Library’s fine art collection. Permanent and alternating exhibits are displayed in the 4th floor galleries and throughout the building. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
