CAUSEWAY - TEMPORARY RAILROAD

Construction of a temporary railroad trestle next to the wrecked causeway began on August 22, 1915. Five pile drivers were employed in its construction. Railroad service between Galveston and the mainland resumed on September 1, 1915.
